Holiday Salmonella - Family Seek Compensation

Latest News - Holiday Salmonella - Breaking Story - Red Sea Illness - Compensation Claimed

An episode of Salmonella food poisoning contracted whilst in Egypt has caused the Massey family to claim compensation from their tour operator.

Joshua Massey, along with his father and sister, suffered the holiday salmonella illness – which involved symptoms such as profuse diarrhoea, fever and stomach cramps – whilst staying at the Red Sea Holiday Village with the tour operator First Choice, the Sunday Mercury newspaper reported.

The family are now pursuing a compensation claim for illness after paying more than £2000 for their luxury 4 star holiday, along with in excess of 100 other holidaymakers represented by Simpson Millar Solicitors who are also suing the travel company for hygiene related issues.

Mark Massey, Joshua’s father, told the news source “First Choice were totally uninterested. My son was clearly very unwell yet all they could say was that it was because of the 'change in temperature."

It was clear to us that he had some form of poisoning, but they wouldn't help at all. They just filled in some forms and said that we were free to complain when we got home.”
