Simpson Millar LLP’s holiday lawyers have been instructed by travellers following a sickness outbreak at the Orquidea Bahia Feliz Hotel in Playa Tarajalillo, Gran Canaria. A number of our clients ingested the swimming pool bug, cryptosporidium although some guests have also reported suffering salmonellosis. It is clear that lessons have not been learnt by the Hotel Orquidea Bahia Feliz or the tour operator as an illness bug appears to be sweeping through the Hotel once again.
TripAdvisor reviews suggest that sewage can be smelt around the pool and that food has been served contaminated with flies.
The presence of cockroaches and flies on the food at the Hotel Orquidea Bahia Feliz would suggest the illness may be due to poor food hygiene practice or contaminated and dirty pool water!
We are currently investigating complaints but if the increased levels of illness can be attributed to filthy pool water or salmonella food poisoning we will be claiming compensation from Thomson again.
