It would appear that First Choice has a problem on its hands as further holidaymakers return from the Holiday Village Flamingo Beach ill with suspected Cryptosporidium infections.
Simpson Millar’s were initially notified of the problem last month after being instructed by a group of holidaymakers who were diagnosed with the waterborne parasite, Cryptosporidium after staying at the hotel.
Cryptosporidiosis amongst holidaymakers is more common in children because they spend lengthy periods in swimming pools, but it can affect anyone. There is no specific treatment for this notorious holiday illness bug, and most holidaymakers with a healthy immune system will recover within a month.
Holidaymakers returning from the Holiday Village Flamingo Beach with weakened immune systems are likely to be more seriously affected, and they should seek immediate medical treatment from a doctor.
It is also important for parents to ensure that their children drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration!
Cryptosporidium is found in food, water, soil or surfaces that have been contaminated with infected human or animal faeces. Holidaymakers returning from the Flamingo Beach in Lanzarote claim that the infection has been caused by ingesting contaminated water from the resorts swimming pools.
