Holidaymakers initially approached us when Thomas Cook’s Legal Team refused to compensate them adequately. The magnitude of their complaints astounded even our experienced travel lawyers, and we were very surprised that a UK holiday company adhering to the Federation of Tour Operators guidelines would allow such substandard practices to prevail.
Our Clients reported many serious hygiene issues at the Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay Resort which included:
• Filthy and unchlorinated swimming pools;
• Birds dropping faecal matter in the food;
• Beds and mattresses infested with bed bugs;
• Rats swimming in the pool;
• Infestation of flies and insects in the food served;
•The plant room was left open alluring children to investigate the exposed machinery; and
• Children suffering from ear infections;

The tour operator confirmed that a large number of individuals had contacted them directly – 76% reported suffering illness at the Sunrise Royal Makadi in August 2010 with 42% requiring treatment from the local doctor!
