Holiday Village Turkey Illness Update – Salmonella Health Scare in April 2011

Salmonella Food Poisoning  – Ill at the Turkey Holiday Village – First Choice Complaints –Salmonellosis - Holiday Illness – No Win No Fee Solicitors – Holiday Village Turkey Salmonella

Travel Lawyers Simpson Millar are disturbed by the fact that holidaymakers are yet again returning from the Holiday Village Turkey have suffered from debilitating bouts of holiday illness.
The hotel operated by the tour operator, First Choice Holidays has a long history of hygiene problems and illness – it is not uncommon for holidaymakers to return from the Holiday Village in Turkey with bacterial infections such as salmonella which is often associated with food poisoning.
The hotel was featured on the BBC's consumer programme "Watchdog" in 2009 after it had suffered yet another outbreak of illness - many holidaymakers have asked Simpson Millar’s Lawyers for help.
Recently, holidaymakers travelling to the Holiday Village Turkey in April 2011 contracted Salmonella, a communicable disease which is under investigation by the Environmental Health Agency.
Salmonella infection is an illness which is often associated with food poisoning, particularly pink and undercooked chicken.
The symptoms of Salmonellosis include gastroenteritis, enteric fever or septicaemia – holidaymakers should look out for profuse watery diarrhoea, headaches, rash, blood in stools, vomiting and lethargy.
First Choice’s hotels have come under the spotlight of holiday claims lawyers in recent years with the Holiday Village Rhodes in Kalithea and the Red Sea Holiday Village in Egypt having problems with illness outbreaks including salmonella food poisoning.

Shigella Reported on TripAdvisor at the Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay Resort

Sunrise Royal Makadi Resort – Egypt - Hotel Holiday Illness –  Claim Compensation for Shigellosis  – Food Poisoning on Holiday – Latest News April 2011 – Shigella -  Holiday Illness

Breaking News:

Simpson Millar Solicitors have been instructed by a large group of holidaymakers who experienced debilitating bouts of diarrhoea, stomach pains, bed bugs and ear infections  whilst staying at the Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay Resort in Egypt.

The symptoms described by our clients are often attributed to food poisoning and/or unhygienic conditions. Indeed, holidaymakers report that their apartments were riddled with bed bugs and that the swimming pool was filthy causing ear infections.

Further concerns relate to unhygienic food preparation and poor standards of hygiene at the Hotel leading to an outbreak of gastric illness. One report on TripAdvisor suggests that guests have been struck down with dysentery in the form of Shigellosis.

Shigella is a bacteria which is transmitted to holidaymakers by food or drinking water that has been contaminated by excrement, either directly or by insects such as flies. It spreads quickly from person to person within holiday hotels either directly or via bathroom taps, handles, wash basins etc. in toilets which have been contaminated with infected faeces.

Holiday-Hotel-Watch monitors reports of holiday illness, hotel sickness and food poisoning outbreaks abroad. If you have suffered from:

at the Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay contact our specialist holiday illness solicitors and we will claim the compensation you deserve for your ruined holiday.

We are currently monitoring the Sunrise Royal Makadi Resort in Egypt for further incidences of food poisoning and holiday illness in September 2010 and April 2011.

Holiday Illness Claims – First Choice to Offer All Inclusive Only in 2012

·        Will this lead to more holiday illness claims?
·        Are tour operators investing enough in health and safety standards?
·        Will holiday compensation claims rise and reduce profits?
·        All inclusive holiday sickness claims predicted to rise.

First Choice Holidays has suggested that the market for travellers wanting the cost of their holiday effectively paid for in advance has grown in recent years.

As a consequence, the company which is part of the TUI UK group will make all its holidays "all inclusive" from 2012. It claims this will save money.

First Choice has said that from summer 2012, it will become the UK's first mainstream travel company exclusively specialising in this market.

Their packages will include return flights, in-resort transfers, hotel accommodation, food, and unlimited local drinks inclusive.

The move flies in the face of the growing dynamically packaged or DIY holiday which flourished in 2010 in which customers built their holiday arrangements with the aid of the internet.

The introduction of the low-cost airline EasyJet into the package travel market and web based direct bookings have exposed tour companies' profit margins in 2011 and 2012. The all-inclusive resort however has been a success story for traditional package tour companies, although profit leakage from holiday illness claims has been substantial in recent years.

If you experience holiday illness whilst on an all-inclusive holiday with First Choice or any other tour operator call our Holiday Compensation Claims Lawyers on 0808 145 1353 to discuss your holiday illness claim.

Data from the Office for National Statistics confirm the package holiday market peaked in 2002, when over 20.6m package holidays abroad were taken by UK tourist. However, by December 2010 that figure had had slipped to 17.9m.

First Choice intends to market its all-inclusive packages as suitable for budget conscious UK holidaymakers particularly families. It claims that the price for a typical family holiday could be reduced by £500 a week because the all-inclusive option particular when entertainment would be provided at the resort.

The travel company also suggests its research shows that demand for all-inclusive holidays has grown by 32% over five years and that 65% of its holidays are already of this type.

Johan Lundgren, managing director of TUI UK, First Choice’s parent group TUI UK, said the move was a first.

"There is no mainstream holiday company currently offering a completely all-inclusive portfolio."

  • Need advice from a no win no fee holiday illness claims solicitor?

Simpson Millar Solicitors have received enquiries from holidaymakers who stayed at the Riu Palace Hammamet Marhaba in Tunisia who suffered from serious holiday illness in September 2010.

One holidaymaker suggested that the chefs at the Hotel Riu Palace Hammament Marhaba used the same implements when cooking and serving chicken and this caused a bout of Shigella. This serious breach of HACCP hygiene protocol could have led to an outbreak of gastric illness amongst guests.

The RIU Palace Hammamet Marhaba is a 5T Platinum all inclusive hotel used by the tour operator Thomson Holidays. It has 3 theme restaurants, 3 swimming pools and is located in a stunning breach front location.
