The Environmental Health Authority is already investigating the incident having been alerted to the cases of salmonella food poisoning.

Simpson Millar Solicitors have been instructed by a large group of holidaymakers who experienced debilitating bouts of diarrhoea, stomach pains, bed bugs and ear infections  whilst staying at the Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay Resort in Egypt.

The symptoms described by our clients are often attributed to food poisoning and/or unhygienic conditions. Indeed, holidaymakers report that their apartments were riddled with bed bugs and that the swimming pool was filthy causing ear infections.

Further concerns relate to unhygienic food preparation and poor standards of hygiene at the Hotel leading to an outbreak of gastric illness. One report on TripAdvisor suggests that guests have been struck down with dysentery in the form of Shigellosis.

Holiday Illness Claims – First Choice to Offer All Inclusive Only in 2012

First Choice Holidays has suggested that the market for travellers wanting the cost of their holiday effectively paid for in advance has grown in recent years.

As a consequence, the company which is part of the TUI UK group will make all its holidays "all inclusive" from 2012. It claims this will save money.

First Choice has said that from summer 2012, it will become the UK's first mainstream travel company exclusively specialising in this market.

Their packages will include return flights, in-resort transfers, hotel accommodation, food, and unlimited local drinks inclusive.

The move flies in the face of the growing dynamically packaged or DIY holiday which flourished in 2010 in which customers built their holiday arrangements with the aid of the internet.

The introduction of the low-cost airline EasyJet into the package travel market and web based direct bookings have exposed tour companies' profit margins in 2011 and 2012. The all-inclusive resort however has been a success story for traditional package tour companies, although profit leakage from holiday illness claims has been substantial in recent years.
